Carl Jung's Interpretation:

In Carl Jung's perspective, the symbol of a leader in a dream, signifies one's relationship with authority - both outward and inward. It may represent one's relationship with their own power and control. As per Jung, dreaming of being a leader could mean that the dreamer is trying to dominate his/her own unconscious aspects or it is the self's attempt to guide the dreamer towards self-realization. When one dreams of a leader, it might be a symbol of a dominant father figure, an animate, for those at the beginning of individuation. If one is shadowed by such a figure, it shows one's current problem is related to personal authority.

James Hillman's Interpretation:

In James Hillman's view, imagery in dreams are not to be taken in a simplified, literal way. If the dreamer dreams of being a leader, it might contain less to do with power, control or direction and more to do with a sense of responsibility, duty, and accountability. Here, the leader symbol could be understood as an 'as if' figure. It’s not about commanding but rather an allegory of understanding one's position and responsibilities in the living world. For Hillman, a leader in dreams could indicate the personification of the feeling function.

Classical Interpretation:

In classic dream interpretations, a leader symbolizes one's desire or struggle for power, influence, or acknowledgement. It can also reflect one's feeling of self-assurance or competence in waking life, or the contrary - feeling of insecurity and need of direction or guidance.

Ancient Greek Interpretation:

In ancient Greek dream interpretation, leaders were often related to omen of victory in battle or triumph over a situation. Thus, the appliance of the leader symbol can denote a victory aspect or overcoming personal battles.

Morphology:

In dream morphology, dreaming about leaders signify one's attitude to authority and ability guide or make decisions, whether it's outward – in waking life, or inward – in relation to their own actions.
